Question 1

How much is a high-pressure pump for an ALFA ROMEO Brera?

Accepted Answer

An exchange high-pressure pump for the ALFA ROMEO Brera starts at €255.00. This model takes 3 different references depending on the engine and the production period; the price shown is the lowest of them.

Question 2

Which high-pressure pump reference fits an ALFA ROMEO Brera?

Accepted Answer

An ALFA ROMEO Brera does not take a single reference: 3 references coexist depending on the engine and the production period. The code read on the removed part is what names yours — not the vehicle's trade name, nor its year.

Question 3

Why are several pump references offered for the Brera?

Accepted Answer

Because one model covers several engines, and one engine may have been built with different pumps depending on the production period or the original supplier. Each of the 3 references matches a precise variant of the vehicle.

Question 4

Where is the reference found on a pump removed from an ALFA ROMEO Brera?

Accepted Answer

It is stamped on the nameplate. The marking stays readable even on a part coated with grime. It is the only reading that confirms the match with the reference expected on an ALFA ROMEO Brera.

Question 5

How do I find out which engine my Brera has?

Accepted Answer

The registration document states the version and the rated power of the vehicle; the engine code itself is stamped on the block. That engine-and-power pairing places the car within the Brera range, and leads to the right pump reference.

Question 6

Is the year of my Brera enough to choose the high-pressure pump?

Accepted Answer

No. Two Brera of the same year can take different pumps depending on their engine. It is the engine-and-power pairing that determines the reference, and the reading on the nameplate that confirms it.

Question 7

What happens to the old pump from my ALFA ROMEO Brera?

Accepted Answer

The part ordered is sold as an exchange unit: it has already been remanufactured, and the pump you remove from the Brera goes back into the reconditioning circuit. Return terms are stated at checkout.

Question 8

How does an exchange pump differ from a new part?

Accepted Answer

An exchange high-pressure pump is an original part restored to working order: wear parts are replaced and the assembly is pressure-tested. It carries the same reference as the pump removed from the Brera and fits in its place.

Question 9

How do I spot a worn high-pressure pump on an ALFA ROMEO Brera?

Accepted Answer

On an ALFA ROMEO Brera, a failing pump shows up as long cranking, hesitation under acceleration, a loss of power under load and a drop into limp mode. These signs overlap with other fuel system faults: diagnosis is a job for a qualified technician.

Question 10

Why does my Brera go into limp mode?

Accepted Answer

The ECU of the Brera limits the engine when rail pressure no longer reaches the value the engine expects. A high-pressure pump that no longer holds pressure is one possible cause, alongside a clogged filter or a faulty regulator.

Question 11

Does long cranking always come from the high-pressure pump?

Accepted Answer

No. Long cranking can come from the pump itself, but equally from a fault on the fuel filter, the pressure regulator or the common rail. The symptom alone is not enough to condemn the part.

Question 12

Which common rail pump range does a Brera take?

Accepted Answer

The CP1, CP3 and CP4 pumps of the Bosch range are covered, and it is the reference that names the one fitted from the factory to the engine in the Brera. The range alone is not enough to order: the reading on the nameplate settles it.

Question 13

How do I confirm the fault before ordering a pump for the Brera?

Accepted Answer

By a fault code read and a rail pressure check, carried out by a qualified technician, before any order for an ALFA ROMEO Brera. That check separates a failed pump from a clogged filter or a leak elsewhere on the circuit — faults with similar symptoms but different remedies.

Question 14

Can I order a pump for the Brera without knowing the exact reference?

Accepted Answer

The 3 references on this page cover the engines fitted to the Brera: the choice is made by reading the code stamped on the nameplate. Without that reading, the exact engine of the vehicle has to be identified before ordering.

Question 15

Does a pump ordered for an ALFA ROMEO Brera fit straight on?

Accepted Answer

Yes, provided the reference is the original fitment for the engine in the Brera: it keeps the drive, the mounting and the connections of the part removed. Fitting is a job for a qualified automotive technician.
