Question 1

What is a fuel injector and what does it do?

Accepted Answer

A fuel injector is a component that delivers a precise, pressurized dose of fuel into the engine's combustion chamber or intake manifold. Its condition directly affects engine performance, fuel consumption and emissions.

Question 2

What are common signs of a failing fuel injector?

Accepted Answer

Typical symptoms include rough idle, engine misfire, reduced power, increased fuel consumption or a fuel odor. These signs point to the injector but should be confirmed against the engine code before ordering a replacement.

Question 3

Can a vehicle be driven with a faulty fuel injector?

Accepted Answer

Driving with a failing injector can worsen engine performance and lead to further damage over time. Identifying the correct engine and injector reference is the first step before any replacement decision.

Question 4

How do I know which fuel injector fits my engine?

Accepted Answer

The correct injector reference is determined by the vehicle's make, model and engine motorization (displacement and power), not by the injector's appearance alone.

Question 5

What information do I need before ordering a replacement injector?

Accepted Answer

The engine code or VIN, along with the vehicle's motorization and power output, is needed to match the correct injector reference in the catalog.

Question 6

What does exchange standard mean for a fuel injector?

Accepted Answer

Exchange standard refers to a reconditioned injector supplied in place of a faulty unit of the same reference. autoKUR, a brand of TURBO EUROPE SAS, specializes in this type of reconditioned exchange part.

Question 7

What is the difference between a new and a reconditioned fuel injector?

Accepted Answer

A new injector is manufactured from new components, while a reconditioned injector has been rebuilt from a core unit to the original reference specification. Both are ordered by matching the exact engine reference.

Question 8

Do I need to return my old injector when ordering a reconditioned one?

Accepted Answer

In an exchange-standard model, the faulty unit is generally expected to be returned against the reconditioned part of the same reference. Details of this process are confirmed at the product listing stage.

Question 9

Are seals and O-rings included with a replacement injector?

Accepted Answer

Seals and O-rings are separate components of the injector assembly, and what is included with a given reference should be checked directly on the corresponding product listing.

Question 10

What materials are fuel injectors typically made from?

Accepted Answer

Fuel injectors are generally built from steel and brass components engineered to withstand high fuel pressure and repeated cycling.

Question 11

Do fuel injector dimensions vary between engine models?

Accepted Answer

Yes, injector length, connector type and nozzle configuration vary by engine and motorization, which is why the exact engine reference determines the correct part.

Question 12

Can one fuel injector fit multiple vehicle brands or models?

Accepted Answer

Some injector references are shared across engines used by different brands within the same manufacturing group, but this is confirmed at the reference level, not assumed by brand name alone.

Question 13

What is the difference between piezoelectric and solenoid fuel injectors?

Accepted Answer

Piezoelectric injectors use a piezo-crystal actuator for faster response, while solenoid injectors use an electromagnetic coil; the type fitted depends on the specific engine design.

Question 14

Does a replacement injector require reprogramming after installation?

Accepted Answer

Certain engines require injector coding via diagnostic equipment after a part is changed; this depends on the vehicle's engine management system and reference.

Question 15

Can a fuel injector be cleaned instead of replaced?

Accepted Answer

Cleaning can address contamination in some cases, but a worn or mechanically failed injector requires replacement with the correct reference rather than cleaning alone.
